Ochre Contemporary is a contemporary fine art gallery located in Mossel Bay on South Africa’s Garden Route.

 

The gallery takes its name from ochre, one of humanity’s earliest known pigments. For thousands of years, ochre has been used by people to create, communicate and leave their mark on the world. It is a symbol of our enduring desire to tell stories, express ideas and connect through creativity.

 

Mossel Bay is home to one of the world’s most significant archaeological heritage sites, where evidence of early humans using ochre has helped shape our understanding of the origins of art and symbolic thought.
